What Is The Most Traditional Christmas Tree?

The most famous traditional decoration in the Christmas celebration. In the past, people usually brought an evergreen plant such as a pine tree into the house or outdoors around Christmas and decorated it with Christmas lights and colorful decorations, and put a star on the top of the tree.

Which trees are most popular with families and suitable for display in the family room?

First of all, these trees are firs, not any other conifers. Usually not pines. And definitely not deciduous trees, always conifers. But which fir?

Nordmann fir

This tree comes from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia and Turkey. Its cone shape is very suitable for Europe and it is drought-tolerant. Nordmann fir is a survivor.

Balsam fir

Basam fir has a pleasant smell - it is probably the most fragrant of the firs described here. These trees thrive in Canada and occur naturally in southern Pennsylvania.

Douglas fir

The most common Douglas fir in the western United States. Washington, western Oregon and central California are full of this tree. A popular music venue in Portland, Oregon, is even named after it: Doug Fir Lounge.

Fraser Fir

Originating in North America, the Fraser Fir has, over time, become arguably the most popular Christmas tree species worldwide. Fraser fir branches are sturdy. The needles are also short (less than two centimeters), making the branches easier to decorate. Perhaps most importantly for a Christmas tree, the Fraser Fir is naturally pyramidal in shape.

European Silver Fir

This beautiful tree from Central Europe comes from mountainous regions—specifically, the Carpathians, Alps, and Pyrenees. Since European Christians tended to hang candles on their trees instead of ornaments, the sparse branches of the European Silver Fir were perfect for candles, as the branches had plenty of space to prevent them from catching fire.
